100 Credits (Alberta High School Diploma: 2010-2018)

This is a Credential Requirement implemented as code value 100Credits-81105 (Credential Requirement).

For this requirement there are five potential message formats with each potentially resulting in an Achieved or Not Achieved status.

Exceeded Second Language Credits The credits awarded for second language that exceed 25 must be subtracted from the student’s total number of credits.

  • Second Language Courses are those courses with a Subject Code = Other Language Arts or Other Languages and Cultures
  • e.g. If the student had a total of 100 credits and the credits awarded for second language was 30, then the student’s total credits would have been 100 – 5 = 95. In this scenario the student would not have met the “100 Credits” requirement.

e.g. “100 credits awarded, 95 credits accepted. 5 excess credits in Second Language courses.”

Exceeded Work Experience Credits

The credits awarded for work experience that exceed 15 must be subtracted from the student’s total number of credits.

e.g. If the student had a total of 100 credits and the credits awarded for work experience was 30, then the student’s total credits would have been 100 – 15 = 85. In this scenario the student would not have met the “100 Credits.” requirement.|The following are work experience course codes:

Has Adult Education Credits

All credits awarded for adult education must be subtracted from the student’s total number of credits. e.g. If the student had a total of 100 credits and the credits awarded for adult education was 5, then the student’s total credits would have been 100 – 5 = 95. In this scenario the student would not have met the “100 Credits.” requirement. The following are adult education course codes:

Exceeded more than one of the Second Language and/or Work Experience Credit, and/or has Adult Education Credits
Indicate that the student has exceeded work experience credit limits, and/or second language credit limits and/or has adult education credits (i.e. the student has reached two of the three credit limits/restrictions).

Note:
Blue text should appear only if the student exceeded the Work Experience Credit.
Grey text should appear only if the student exceeded the Second Language Credit.
Pink text should appear only if the student has Adult Education Credits.

Examples:

“100 credits awarded, 85 credits accepted. 5 excess credits in Work Experience courses. 10 excess credits in Second Language courses.”

“100 credits awarded, 85 credits accepted. 5 excess credits in Work Experience courses. 10 Adult Education credits excluded since they only apply to High School Equivalency Diploma Alternative 1.”

“100 credits awarded, 75 credits accepted. 5 excess credits in Work Experience courses. 10 excess credits in Second Language courses. 10 Adult Education credits excluded since they only apply to High School Equivalency Diploma Alternative 1.”

Achieved
If the student still has 100 or more credits after subtracting excess and adult education from their total credits, the student has met the 100 credits requirement.
