Deliver Print Job

The delivery of the print job will be completed automatically behind the scenes, but various business areas will receive notifications reporting on the success or failure of the print job delivery to the Print Service Provider.

Terminology

The following terms have been included to assist with the understanding of the process detailed within this document.

Credential

The diploma or certificate that Alberta Education awards to the student upon completion of all necessary achievements. For example, Alberta High School Diploma and Certificate of High School Achievement represent credentials.

Transcript

The transcript represents a set of official Information about a student's academic history in the Alberta Education system including Official Marks and Credentials. The transcript contains only the official mark (and components that were selected to arrive at the official mark) for each course completed. There is no history of attempts.

Printed Transcript

The physical document created by the transcript process. It is sent to a printer and produced on a paper which contains a pre-printed logo and may contain other security elements.

The print service provider is the organization that is contracted by Alberta Education to perform print services such as printing of credentials and transcripts.

Primary Scenario – Send for Printing

This scenario begins when PASI attempts to delivery the print job to the print service provider.

1. PASI sends the print job for delivery.

2. PASI sends a success print job delivery notification to the Student Records & Print Service Provider teams.

3. Student Records & Print Service Provider each receive the print job notification.

4. Print Service Provider receives the print job successfully.

This scenario ends with the documents contained in the Print Job being received successfully by the Print Service Provider.

Alternate Scenario #1 – Print Job not Successfully received, First Retry

This scenario starts following step 1 of the Primary Scenario where the print job has not been successfully received by the Print Service Provider and on the first attempt.

1. PASI sends print job retry notification to the Student Records team.

2. Student Records team receive the retry print job delivery notification.

This scenario continues with Step 1 where the print job is sent for delivery as the first retry and with the Student Records team receiving the notifications.

Alternate Scenario #2 - Print Job not Successfully received, Resend

This scenario starts following step 1 of the Primary Scenario where the print job has not been successfully received by the Print Service Provider and this is not the first retry attempt, but the maximum number of retries has not been reached yet.

This scenario continues with PASI attempting to resend the print job from Step 1 of the Primary Scenario.

Alternate Scenario #3 – Maximum Number of Retries has been reached

This scenario starts from step 1 of the Primary Scenario where print job has not been successfully received by the Print Service Provider and the maximum number of retry attempts has been reached.

2. PASI sends Print Job Failure Notification to the Student Records team.

3. Student Records team receive the Print Job Delivery Notification.

This scenario ends with the issue being addressed and the document being delivered to the recipient as a result of the troubleshooting process.
