An external credential is a credential (diploma or certificate) that was not awarded by Alberta Education. Alberta Education awarded credentials can be found in the Guide to Education.

Alberta Education reviews and may approve certain external credentials to be recognized on the student's high school academic record, resulting in the external credential being added to the student's transcript.
