This rule is used to validate:

• Courses Offered

To perform this validation, the following information is used:

• Section School Year
• School Code (Section)
• Course Permissions
• organization code
• UseEffectiveDates?
• Section Start Date
• Section End Date
• Effective Start Date
• Effective End Date
• First School Year
• Last School Year

An organization must have permission to offer the course for the school year in context.

This rule applies to section records with a section school year of 2012/2013 forward.

Where no Course Permissions exists for the course and organization, this rule should fail.

“No permission” means:

• No A.* permission exists with null credit version OR
• No permission record exists for the organization on the section or its authority OR
• A permission record exists for the organization on the section or its authority, but not for the timeframe.
• No permission record exists at all.

Where null Credit Version exists on the Course Permission record:

• If permission organization code = A.* AND the section school year is equal to or within the course authorization First School Year and Last School Year values, this rule passes. Otherwise, this rule fails.
• If permission organization code <> A.* AND the section school year is equal to or within the course authorization First School Year and Last School Year values, this rule passes. Otherwise, this rule fails.
  • If the organization code is an authority, all schools within that authority inherit the permission.
  • If the organization code is a school, that school has permission

Where Credit Version information is included on the Course Permissions record:

• If organization code = A.* OR
• The organization code <> A.*:
  • If the organization code is an authority, all schools within that authority inherit the permission.
  • If the organization code is a school, that school has permission
• Check the timeframe:
  • If UseEffectiveDates? = Yes on the permission, the Section Start Date and Section End Date must be equal to or fall within the permission credit version Effective Start Date and Effective End Dates. Otherwise, this rule fails.
  • If UseEffectiveDates? = No on the permission, the section school year must be equal to or within the course permission credit version First School Year and Last School Year value. Otherwise, this rule fails.

• {OrganizationCode} is the code of the organization on the section.
• {CourseCode} is the course code of the course that the rule failed for on the section.
• {SectionSchoolYear} is the school year on the section.
