The order in the sequence for this course.

This data element is used in the following validation rules:

The derived Sequence Level may be based on the Course Level contained within the Full English Name of the course.

The course level can be extracted from the Course Name by:

1. Removing the following phrases from the name:
   1. Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, and Level 5
   2. 6 Year and 9 Year
   3. 3Y, 6Y, 9Y, and 12Y
   4. (Was 14), (Was 15), (Was 24), (Was 25), and (Was 34)
   5. -5
2. Removing all non-numeric characters
3. Removing all but the last ‘word’
   1. i.e. the final string after the last space
   2. If there is only 1 word, it is used

For backwards compatibility, the Sequence Level will be derived based on the:

• Course Code
• Subject Code
• Instruction Level
• Intended Grade Level
• Derived Name Level (above)

To derive the level of the course:

• If the Subject Code is CTA, CTD, or CTS the Sequence Level is derived from the Instruction Level as follows:
  • INT ⇒ 1
  • IMD ⇒ 2
  • ADV ⇒ 3

• If the Subject Code is CTA, CTD, or CTS, but an Instruction Level was not available:
  • The Derived Name Level (if available) is used as the Sequence Level

• If the Subject Code is not CTA, CTD, or CTS
  • The Derived Name Level (if available) is used as the Sequence Level

• If the Derived Name Level is not available, the Sequence Level is derived based on the Course Code and the Intended Grade Level:
  • If the Intended Grade Level is not 10, 11, or 12, then the Intended Grade Level is used as the Sequence Level
  • If the Intended Grade Level is 10, 11, or 12, and the Course Code begins with ‘LDC’ then the Sequence Level is derived from the Typical Grade as follows:
    • 10 ⇒ 15
    • 11 ⇒ 25
    • 12 ⇒ 35
      
      
  • If the Intended Grade Level is 10, 11, or 12, but the Course Code does not being with ‘LDC’ then the Sequence Level is derived from the Typical Grade as follows:
    • 10 ⇒ 10
    • 11 ⇒ 20
    • 12 ⇒ 30
