This rule is used to validate:

• Preferred Mailing Address

To perform this validation, the following information is used:

• Preferred Mailing Address
• Current Mailing Address

Where the user attempts to set the current Preferred address as the preferred address, this rule will stop that by producing a rejection. The user can only set a mailing address to the preferred address when it is not already the preferred address.

Include the following as needed:

• Effective Starting School Year: all school years
• Effective Ending School Year: all school years

For Backwards compatibility, The Current Mailing Address is used in the calculation of the Preferred Mailing Address for a student and we only have one mailing address as current due to the linear address model. So, that means if the user attempts to update the current mailing address to preferred, then it in a empty updated and this rejection is returned to the user.

When this validation rule is triggered, the following message is returned:

• Mailing Address already Preferred. The preferred Mailing Address can only be updated to an address that is not currently specified as preferred.
