This rule is used to validate the following :
To perform this validation, the following information is used:
Credit cannot be awarded for a course evaluation where the student already has a passing official mark in an equivalent course.
To find course equivalencies for a course, find all Course Relationships for the course with a Relationship Type (Course) = REG. The course listed in the Related Course(s) are the equivalent courses.
A course evaluation is considered to be an evaluated mark where the evaluation method is one of:
Equivalent Courses are identified by looking at Course Relationships for the evaluated course with a Relationship Type (Course) of Regular Equivalency(REG) that are in effect during the school year in which the evaluation is performed. The courses listed as the Related Courses are the equivalent courses.
A Passing Official Mark is one in the equivalent course with an Achievement Date that is before the Evaluation Date of the Evaluated Mark record.
Equivalent courses are explicitly defined in CIA and are direct relationships. No indirect equivalencies are to be considered; Course 4 would not be considered as an equivalent for Course 1 as defined below:
When this validation rule is triggered, the following message is returned:
Passing Official Mark in Equivalent Course. The course evaluation in {Evaluated Mark Course Code} {Course Short Description} cannot be awarded credit as equivalent course {Equivalent Course Code} {Course Short Description} already has a passing official mark.
