When Calculating First Pass Official Mark Values for GED courses, the calculated Official Mark is based on the number of GED Exam Marks with a GED Exam Mark Value.

Deriving Official Mark Values based on GED Exam Mark Values

Official Mark Values for GED Courses have a letter grade.

The standard scores (between 200 and 800) achieved on GED exams translate to letter grades on the following basis:

  • A for a standard score of 620 or higher
  • B for a standard score of 550 or to 619
  • C for a standard score of 450 or to 549
  • F for a standard score less than 450

Previous to 2002 standard scores (from 20 to 80) achieved on GED exams translated to letter grades on the following basis:

  • A for a standard score of 62 or higher
  • B for a standard score of 55 or to 61
  • C for a standard score of 45 or to 54
  • F for a standard score less than 45

If a student has achieved a grade for the same exam in different series’ then we will select the one written in the new series.
