When the Official Mark Calculator is merging newly calculated official marks with existing official marks, they are compared to determine if and how the new mark differs from the existing mark.

The Mark Ordinal of the calculated official mark is better than the existing official mark,
The Mark Ordinal is the same, the credits awarded are the same (or better on the calculated official mark) and the Normalized Mark Value is better on the calculated official mark, or
The Mark Ordinal is the same, the credits awarded are the same (or better on the calculated official mark), the Normalized Mark Values are the same, and the Mark Sub-Ordinal is better on the calculated official mark
The Mark Ordinal is the same, the credits awarded are the same (or better on the calculated official mark), the Normalized Mark Values are the same, and the Mark Sub-Ordinal is the same, but the calculated official mark and the existing official mark are different is some way.
