The following questions should be considered if your integrated solution will include integration to create new students in PASI.
What is the approach used to create a new student in PASI?
Creating a new student within PASI should only be performed after the a user searched for the student and has confirmed that the student is not already in PASI in order to avoid the creation of duplicate ASNs.
What is the approach to deal creation of a student when duplicate students are identified by PASI?
Only Student Records users are able to create a student in PASI whose identity information matches another student (i.e. two students with the same name and birthdate). In the event that there is a new student with matching identity information as a student already recorded within PASI, the user will need to contact Student Records to have the second student created.
As a result, the user must be able to create a new student within the integrated solution without an ASN, and associated the student to an ASN later via another search.
What is the approach used when a Create Student request cannot be completed?
If PASI is unavailable during the student registration process, PASI recommends the solution still allows users to complete the student registration process but provides notification to its users of students that have not yet been assigned an ASN. Users must have the capability return to those students to perform a search of PASI to find and link to an existing PASI student, or request creation of a new PASI student and thus creation of a new ASN and associated student school registration.

What is the approach used when a Create Student request is rejected?
An integrated solution must notify its users of all errors associated with failed requests to create a new student and so they have the opportunity to immediately correct and thus resubmit the Create Student request. In cases where the student information cannot be immediately corrected, PASI recommends the integrated solution still allows the user to complete the student registration process and provides notification to its users of students that have not yet been assigned an ASN. Users must have the capability return to those students to perform a search of PASI to find and link to an existing PASI student, or request creation of a new PASI student and thus creation of a new ASN and associated student school registration.
