Integrating with PASI

PASI has established an Integration Process that is followed when a system wants to integrate with PASI. This process ensures the approach used to integrate with PASI:

  • Does not negatively impact the operation of the PASI system,
  • Does not negatively impact other integrated systems, and
  • Protects the integrity of the Student data captured across integrated systems.

The scope of integration for each software product may vary. For example, an SIS product may require integration with High School Courses and Marks while a Documentation Management system may not. Each topic below should be reviewed to determine if the topic will be considered in-scope when Integrating with PASI.

Each in-scope topic outlines:

Architectural Considerations
  • A Software Provider is expected to outline the approach / architecture that will be used to integrate with PASI before commencing development activities.
  • In the topics below, the architectural considerations are in the form of questions that the Software Provider is expected to answer when outlining their approach / architecture.
  • The responses to these questions will be reviewed by the PASI Team and if there are any concerns will be discussed with the Software Provider.

Integration with PASI can be completed for any or all of the following functionality.

Student Information

Student information is basic information about each student recorded within PASI and includes:

  • Information about the student's identity
  • Contact information include addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.
  • Personal information such as Section 23 Eligibility, Language Spoken at Home, and Citizenship Status.
  • Information about the student's guardians including names, relationships, and contact information.

School Enrolment Information

School Enrolment information identifies which school a student is attending and the programs/services the school is offering to the student. Integration for school enrolment information can be broken down into the following areas:

Responsible School Information

Responsible School information identifies which school is taking the overall responsible for a students education. Integration for Responsible School information can be broken down into the following areas:

School Classroom Accommodation Information

School Classroom Accommodation information outlines the special accommodations / provisions a school is providing to a student. Integration for School Classroom Accommodation information can be broken down into the following areas:

Provincial Achievement Tests

High School Marks

Evaluated Mark information outlines evaluations that result in a student being awarded credit for work down outside of classroom in Alberta and is currently only captured for high school courses. Integration for Evaluated Mark information can be broken down into the following areas:

Diploma Exam Information

Diploma Exams must be written by high school students for some high school courses. Diploma Exam information outlines the various diploma exams available to be written. Integration for Diploma Exam information can be broken down into the following areas:

A Diploma Exam Sitting is used to outline where a student may write a specific diploma exam. Integration for Diploma Exam Sitting information can be broken down into the following areas:

Diploma Exam Mark information is used to initial record a registration for a student to write a diploma exam, and is subsequently updated to outline the results of the student writing the exam. Integration for Diploma Exam Mark information can be broken down into the following areas:

Student Transcript Details

Official Marks are awarded by Alberta Education for each course a student attempted. Integration for Official Mark Information can be broken down into the following areas:

Alberta Credentials are awarded by Alberta Education for students that have satisfied a series of credential requirements. Integration for Alberta Credential information can be broken down into the following areas:
