Refers to a student identified by one or more Alberta Student Numbers. While most students should only have a single ASN, some may have multiples as a result of schools creating additional ASNs in error for the student. When multiple ASNs are discovered for the student, the ASNs are linked together with one ASN selected as the Primary ASN while others would be referred to as Secondary. (See Submit Student State Province ID Status))
Generally in PASI, when examining academic records, records associated to Primary and Secondary ASNs must be considered for the student, as all records under those ASNs belongs to the same “logical student”.
To be associated to the student with multiple ASNs, a user just needs to be associated to one of the ASNs on thatlogicial student. In the event that the organization has more than 1 association on different ASNs for the same logical student, the 'best' of the associations are used.
