Alberta Student Number

The Alberta Student Number (ASN) is a number generated by Alberta Education in order to uniquely identify each student. Each student will be permanently assigned a unique ASN. If the student is registered at a new school, changes their address, or changes their legal name, their ASN will remain unchanged.

Base Data Type A 9-digit Integer value between 000000001 and 999999999

Alberta Student Number may also refer to:

State Province ID

Within PASI the Alberta Student Number (ASN) is sometimes identified as a State Province ID (code StateProvinceId), as this term is used by the Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) as a generic definition of a government-based unique identifier. Note that PASIprep and myPass always use the term “Alberta Student Number” or its acronym ASN.
