Once the Official Mark Calculator determines the final set of Official Marks, they can be recorded within the PASI system. To reduce the number of updates applied, only changes to the marks are recorded;

PASI won’t update the record if there is nothing to update.

• If the final official mark is for a course that does not have an existing official mark, the official mark is added.
• If the final official mark matches the existing official mark, no updates are applied.
• If the final official mark does not match the existing official mark, update the official mark.
• If there is an existing official mark for a course that is not included in the final set of official marks, the existing official mark will be deleted.

The final Official Mark will be considered a match to the existing Official Mark when:

• A comparison of the two marks¹⁾ is considered identical, and
• The Achievement Date and Achievement School Year are the same.

Any calculated official mark that was discarded in favor of the existing official mark is also recorded as a discarded or unofficial mark. This record includes the details of the discarded mark along with an indication that highlights whether or not the course what considered related when being processed.
