Whether a fee is required for a Diploma Exam Registration is determined by the following chart:
- When calculating fee, the student should be used in the calculation whenever we are examining student data
- * Note : An “Exam Mark Result within the last two years” is defined as a Diploma Exam Mark record for the same student where all of the following conditions are true:
- The school year is within the range [School Year of the Exam Registration - 2 years]
- e.g. if student is registering for an exam in the 2015/2016 school year, the range in consideration will be 2013/2014 to 2015/2016.
- Not deleted
- is for a Diploma Exam
- ** Note: An “Exam Registration” is defined as an Exam Mark record for the student where:
- The Status is RE (Exam Mark Status), and
- It is for a Diploma Exam for the same course code, and
- It is for a different Exam Session (exam period / school year combination)
- *** Note: Student is non-funded for the First Time Registration if:
- The student has a valid Student School Enrolment with an enrolment type code of 414, 415 or 416 in the same school year of the exam.
- If the student has no valid school enrollments in the same school year of the exam then the school enrolment with the most recent school year on the student's record is checked (along with all of the valid school enrolments in the same year). If any enrolment in this school year has an enrollment type code of 414, 415 or 416 AND the student valid current Citizenship Status has status of 5, 9, or NULL then the student is non-funded.
- **** Note: Student is non-funded for Rewrite if:
- The student has a valid Student School Enrolment with an enrolment type code of 414, 415 or 416 in the same school year of the exam.
- If the student has no valid school enrollments in the same school year of the exam then the school enrolment with the most recent school year on the student's record is checked (along with all of the valid school enrolments in the same year). If any enrolment in this school year has an enrollment type code of 414, 415 or 416 AND the student valid current Citizenship Status has status of 5, 9, or NULL then the student is non-funded.
- And / Or
- The student has a valid Student School Enrolment in the same school year of the exam and is enrolled at an Alberta Accredited International School: School Authority Classification of the School Authority will be used to identify the student enrolled at AAIS.
- Student is considered to be enrolled at AAIS, if School Authority Classification Type is equal to 21 (School Authority Type).
- If the student has no valid school enrollments in the same school year of the exam then the school enrolment with the most recent school year on the student's record is checked (along with all of the valid school enrolments in the same year).
- A valid Student School Enrolment is one where the where the school enrolment record is not deleted (Student School Enrolment Is Deleted = False).
- A valid current Citizenship Status is one that exists on a primary ASN, is not deleted, and not expired and without an effective future date

The following summarizes the possible outcomes when determining fees, and the appropriate message to display to user when needed.

The list of NWT/NU authorities is the same list as the blacklisted authorities list used by the myPass DER Sign-Up Letter Processor.

A student is a rewriter if they have already written the same exam in the same school year or in the last 2 school years, and has received an Exam Mark that does not have a status of RE, IC or NW. A student who registers for the same exam in different exam sessions is also being considered as a rewriter for all subsequent registrations (following the first registration).
