Terminology

Credential Nomination

In terms of PASIprep, students may be “nominated” for a credential by setting a nomination credential requirement to “Achieved” for a student. This indicates to PASI that the student achievement should be assessed/calculated.

The concept of nomination applies to the Certificate of School Completion and High School Equivalency Diploma Alternative 1.

Scenarios

Primary Scenario #1 – Nominate Student for the HSED Credential

This scenario begins where a student has requested to be assessed for eligibility for the High School Equivalency Diploma Alternative 1 Credential.

  1. Student requests High School Equivalency Diploma assessment from Student Records team.
  2. Student Records “nominates” the student for the High School Equivalency Diploma Credential by editing the appropriate credential requirement using the Edit Credential Requirement Achievement PASIprep screen.
  3. School user searches for the student in PASIprep using the PASIprep Homepage search screen.
  4. School user views the student credential data using the View Student - Credentials Tab screen(s).
    1. Where the school is using a Vendor integrated SIS, they see this information by calling the Get Student Academic Profile (2018) service.
  5. Where the credential has not been awarded to the student and they aren’t currently nominated for the credential, the School user “nominates” the student for the High School Equivalency Diploma Credential by editing the appropriate credential requirement using the Edit Credential Requirement Achievement PASIprep screen.

This scenario ends with the Student being nominated for the High School Equivalency Diploma Credential in PASI.

Primary Scenario #2 – Nominate Student for the COSC Credential

This scenario begins where a School would like to nominate a student to work towards the Certificate of School Completion Credential.

  1. School user acknowledges that a student is working towards the Certificate of School Completion (COSC) credential.
  2. School user searches for the student in PASIprep using the PASIprep Homepage search screen.
  3. School user views the student credential data using the View Student - Credentials Tab screen(s).
    1. Where the school is using a Vendor integrated SIS, they see this information by calling the Get Student Academic Profile (2018) service.

Note: Where the school is out for summer, Learner Services may be involved in nominating the student on the school's behalf (the Learner Services user may log in under the School's organization in PASIprep), but this scenario will be very rare.

This scenario ends with the Student being nominated for the Certificate of School Completion Credential in PASI.
