To allow students, in unique circumstances, to meet the diploma exam obligation, a Special Writing Centre may be established for students who are outside of Alberta when a diploma exam is scheduled to be administered. A Special Writing Centre is a site outside of Alberta that is temporarily approved by Assessment (Special Cases) to serve as a diploma exam writing centre.
Only Special Cases (SC) can add/manage special Diploma Exam Sittings, and add registrations to special exam sittings in PASI.
In special circumstances, a student/parent may request to write in a special writing centre if they meet the criteria specified in the General Information Bulletin. This scenario begins when the student identified that they need to write in a special sitting.
This scenario ends with the student being registered in the special exam sitting for the exam session / course.
This scenario starts from step 3 of the Primary Scenario #1 and SC decides not to approve the student's request to write in the special sitting.
This scenario continues on from Step 6 of the Primary Scenario #1.
This scenario starts from step 6 of the Primary Scenario #1 where student is approved to write in a special sitting, but they have decided to no longer write in the special sitting.
This scenario ends with the student being registered in the exam sitting they intend to write in for the exam session / course.
