To perform this validation, the following information is used:

Description

When using the Create Student service, the PASI Core will check to confirm that the student does not already exist within the PASI Core. PASI will search for the student based on the First Name, Last Name, and Birth Date provided in the request. If the search matches against an ASN not included in the 'Acknowledged Similar ASN List' then the request will be rejected.
Deactivated and deleted student identity records are not considered as potential matches during the search.

This validation rule is in effect for all school years.

Note: This rule does not apply to Limited Access Schools/Authorities.

Note: This rule makes use of the Identify Student service and high quality matching only.

Message

When this validation rule is triggered, the following message is returned:

  • Duplicate Student. The student being created appears to already exist within PASI. Review the following student records before submitting again: ASN {StateProvinceIds}.

Where:

  • {StateProvinceIDs} means a listing of any matching ASNs that already exist with the same Legal Name and Date of Birth
