Additional Options for Establishing a myPass Connection

If a user is unable to create a connection to a student from the Obtain Access to the Student Information via myPass screen, they may be directed to this screen. This screen will provide the user other options they may have to obtain access to the student's information.

By Cell Phone

This option is available when the user:

  • Provided a cell phone number, and
  • Indicated they were the student and the entered cell phone number matches any of the active phone numbers stored on the PASI profile for the student and does not match any phone numbers for the student’s parents, and
  • Indicated they were the parent/guardian of the student and the entered cell phone numbers matches a phone number associated to one (and only one) of the parent/guardian records associated to the student and does not match any phone numbers for the student

We may be able to activate your connection if you add your cell phone number ({cell phone}) to your Education Account profile.

  • When you are done, click 'Try Again'

By Email Address

This option is available when:

  • The user indicated they were the student, and
  • The student has an active email address in PASI

We may be able to activate your connection by sending you an Access Code to {masked email}. If you recognize and have access to this email address, click the Email Me button. We will email you an Access Code that can be used to activate your connection.

When this button is clicked, the system will:

  • Generate a Signup Access Code for the student with the following information:
  • Send the generated access code in an email
  • Once the email is successful the user is directed to Signup Access Code Successfully Requested page.
Generating a Signup Access Code

A Signup Access Code is generated with the following information:

  • Student = the ASN on the request
  • Expiry Date = 30 days after the current date (i.e. OrderPlacedDate + ExpiryPeriod from config file) file
  • Access Code = generated by the system

How to sign up for myPass?

1. Go to {URL}
2. Enter the Signup Access Code (one-time use only), your Alberta Student Number and your Date of Birth
This signup access code will permit you to access your information on {URL}.

myPass is an Alberta Education self-service website for you to:

  • Order high school transcripts in English and French
  • View diploma exam marks
  • Register to write or rewrite diploma exams with online payment
  • View and print Detailed Academic Reports (DAR)
  • View progress towards a credential (diploma or certificate)
  • Order additional copies of an awarded credential in English or French
  • Receive notifications for important messages

Where:

  • {Education Account Email} - Education Account Primary Email address
  • {Date requested} - Date the email was sent.
  • {XXXXXXX} - Signup Access Code
  • {Expiry Date} - This is the date the access code expires.
  • {URL} – “myPass” = URL of myPass for the environment the letter is generated from.

Note: There is no French version of the email.

By Phone

This option is available when the user indicated they were the student.

Contact the Help Desk. After they validate your identity, they can add your email address ({email address}) to your student profile. Once updated, return to myPass.alberta.ca and try to activate your connection again.

By Your School

This option is available when:

  • The user indicated they were the student, and
  • The student has an active enrolment with a school.

Have your school update your personal information. Ensure that your school adds your email address ({email address}) to your student profile. Once updated, return to myPass.alberta.ca and try to activate your connection again.

This option is available when:

  • The user indicated they were the student, and
  • The Student has an Active Mailing Address, and
  • The postal code of the active mailing address matches the postal code entered by the user, and
  • The student has not already requested a Self Service Signup Letter within the past 7 days

We may be able to activate your connection by sending you a letter with an Access Code to the address on file. This letter will be sent via Canada Post and may take up to 2 weeks to be delivered. If you would like to receive an Access Code in the mail, click the Send Me a Letter button.

When the Send Me a Letter button is clicked, the system will:

Creating the Signup Access Code

The Signup Access Code is created with the following information:

  • Student = the ASN on the request
  • Expiry Date = 30 days after the current date (i.e. OrderPlacedDate + ExpiryPeriod from config file) file
  • Access Code = generated by the system
Creating the Document Order

The Document Order is created with the following information:

  • Request Method = Online
  • Order Requested By = Username of the myPass User
  • Education Account Identifier = Education Account ID of the myPass User
  • Order Placed Date/Time = current date/time
  • Order Status = Ordered
  • Document Processing Timeframe = ASAP

The Document Order will contain one Document Order Item with the following information:

  • Alberta Student Number = the ASN on the request
  • Document Type = SelfserviceSignupMyPass
  • Document Delivery Method = AutomatedMail
  • Document Language = EN
  • Number of Copies = 1
  • Recipient Is Student = Yes
  • Recipient Name = the student’s Preferred Name
  • Recipient Address = the preferred/active mailing address
  • Education Account Connection ID = NULL

By Student

This option is available when:

  • The user did not indicate they were the student,
  • The requested student already has a myPass connection, and
  • The requested student is the age of 16 or older.

Contact the student and asked to be setup as an “Authorized User” (from the myPass Home screen the student can select “Access to Student Information” and then click the “Add User” link). Once done, the student will provide you with an Access Code that can be used to setup your access.

Communiquez avec l’élève et demandez-lui de de vous inscrire à titre d’ « utilisateur autorisé » (écran d’accueil de myPass, option « Accès aux renseignements de l’élève » puis cliquez sur « Ajouter un utilisateur »). By a School

This option is available when:

  • The user indicated they were a parent,
  • The student has an active enrolment with a school, and
  • The student is not an Independent Student.
